CHILE EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

The leadership team at Homeport would encourage you to send your support of those affected by the earthquake in Chile by sending your funds thru IDES. We have no direct contact with any missionary in Chile as we do in Haiti but have been connected to IDES thru many disaster relief efforts in the past.

Breaking News:

On February 27th a massive earthquake hit Chile leaving at least 700 people dead. IDES has heard from missionaries in the area and we will be providing assistance but we will need your help. Please pray for the people of Chile and Haiti.

The information below was taken off of the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission website today. If you go to http://www.nwhcm.org/ you can donate directly to the mission and assist them as they assist others in Haiti. If you can’t donate thru the website then make a donation to Homeport and we will make sure the money gets to NWHCM. Thank you for your help and concern.

Homeport Leadership team Earthquake Relief – How to HelpWednesday, January 13 – 10:39 a.m.

Northwest Haiti Christian Mission is responding in the quickest ways possible to respond to the earthquakes that have shaken Haiti.Currently, NWHCM staff are assessing the situation on the ground to identify the areas of greatest need. By working closely with our Haiti One ministry partners across the country, NWHCM plans to assist in every way it can.Your support will go directly toward relief of the immediate needs in Port-au-Prince and Northwest Haiti, and will go to fund ongoing aid efforts as Haitians struggle to recover and provide for their families in the aftermath.The destruction left by the earthquakes will most likely affect all of Haiti and its economy for months to come. NWHCM plans for its response to be strategic, responsible and ongoing. We will first be sending a team of medical personnel along with desperately needed medical supplies. We will give more information on our next steps as we talk with our partners throughout the country and further assess the situation.

SPECIAL MARCH DATES

NEW MESSAGE SERIES – “YOU WILL BE MY WITNESSES”

Beginning on February 28 – March 21, we will be looking at Christ’s charge to the church to be a witness. We will use the first two chapters of Acts to open our eyes to the challenge as well as the tools given to us for victory. We will see the elements of prayer, power, preaching and practice as the ways to see disciples made in the kingdom. See you there as we are inspired and equipped to BE HIS WITNESSES!!

MEN’S RETREAT

North Florida Christian Service Camp is sponsoring a Men’s Retreat March 12-13. The featured speaker is Leroy Lawson. Leroy is a former pastor, Bible College professor and author. He is a great communicator and will bring a great set of messages. The weekend will include: A Beast Feast, bonfire, skeet & target shooting, canoeing, fishing, horseshoes, hiking and more. The cost for the entire weekend is $50. Sign up at Guest Services.

TURN YOUR CLOCKS AHEAD

This next Saturday March 13th will be the official start of Daylight Savings Time. So you will need to set your clocks ahead one hour sometime that night before you go to bed.

BACK PACK PLANNING MEETING

After church March 28th, we will be meeting for a beginning planning meeting for this year's Back Pack Give Away. We will begin at 1 PM and lunch will be served. We will be discussing the different areas of oversight that will be needed, ideas on improvement from last year, what to include this year and much more. Please plan on attending this meeting if you have any interest in helping to make this year's event a success for the Lord. Thanks
